Session 1 Tuesday, June 03, 2008 8:30 a.m. to 9:15 a.m. | NECA - Phantom Traffic & Access Avoidance This workshop will discuss phantom traffic and access avoidance. While “phantom traffic” refers to mislabeled or unlabelled traffic that is therefore unbillable, “access avoidance” refers to behaviors or techniques that result in underbilling of traffic. Both of these result in lost revenue to ILECs. The workshop will identify what is being done by NECA and others to address these problems. Available Space (45) Innovative Systems - Unified Messaging - Attracting today’s youth and turning them into tomorrows telco customer This session will reveal the communication usage trends of today’s youth and who really influences them. Unified Messaging technology will also be discussed and how those applications can be specifically applied to a young persons lifestyle. The session will conclude with strategies on how to repackage your present phone feature bundles to incorporate unified messaging and how to get this information out to the youth market. Available Space (45) Nortel – Ethernet Fiber Access FTTH WDM PON Solutions Fiber based access is becoming a hot topic in the industry in order to overcome the limitations of the copper network. This is true for the residential domain (where copper cannot deliver a HDTV based service, for example) and business services which require fiber access based on a packet paradigm for lower cost and better performance.
Other access technologies, such as GPON, attempt to provide a fiber solution but have clear intrinsic issues (scalability, shared uplink capacity, traffic asymmetry, need to link engineer etc.). Many industry analysts and carriers agree that the access network will evolve to a WDM PON technology because of its advantages.
This presentation will cover the basics of WDM PON technology as well as the Nortel products and network offer.
Available Space (45) Cisco Systems, Inc. - Monetizing the Network Monetizing the Network through Services and Content architecture, a business and technology perspective presented by Mark Kouyoumjianl,SE. He will explain how Service Providers can “monetize” their network by using a Cisco solution of core, edge and aggregation Routers, SCE, Service Node, home gw, etc. to enable providers to enhance their ability to provide QoS service enablement, content location, targeted advertising, etc. to other companies wanting access to their customer base. Available Space (45) | Session 2 Tuesday, June 03, 2008 9:30 a.m. to 10:15 a.m. | Cathedral Corporation -Using Your Statement to Target and Promote New Offers and Cross-sell Your Services Your customer statements can be a powerful marketing tool. Take advantage of today’s targeted, one-to-one print and electronic technology to maximize your customer communications by combining transactional record information with promotional messages. Learn how to personalize your promotions and match existing customers with offers that are most likely to trigger their response by utilizing the white space on your statements to deliver specific messages relevant to their buying patterns and preferences. Available Space (45) Quintrex Data Systems Corp. - Gen Y: RU Connected? Reaching the tech-savvy Generation Y consumers has become a recent challenge for telecommunications companies. This up-and-coming demographic relies heavily on the latest in technological advancements. Having grown up with direct, targeted communication that reaches them on a personal level, Generation Y is considered the largest consumer market since the Baby Boomers and one you should not ignore. Other than advanced broadband capabilities, these consumers demand items like Web portals for statement viewing and on-line account management as well as customized service offerings. Convenience has become the dominant factor in service decisions. Marketing to this group requires fresh ideas and technology-driven methods, like personalized marketing campaigns, individualized on-line promotions, as well as creating a presence for your company where these consumers gather. By analyzing and implementing ways to reach Generation Y consumers, companies can effectively get through to this demographic in the most effective and profitable way possible. Available Space (45) Emerson Network Power - Fiber Network Expansion Solutions Low Cost Fiber Deployment Solutions Incumbent providers face turbulent times as the industry rushes headlong into the digital home networking market. Faced with the need to extract maximum service from their copper networks, they must quickly decide how, when and which technology to use to expand their fiber networks to handle the ever growing market for broadband services. Fortunately, they are not alone. Emerson Network Power is equally determined to leverage its traditional incumbency in the telcom market while, at the same time, developing and introducing integrated fiber connectivity solutions that will offer providers a “one-stop shop” and maximum value. Available Space (45) Goldfield Telecom – Preparing Your Network for IP Services Join David Rich of Goldfield Telecom as he discusses Bandwidth Allocation – Questioning network capabilities, Managing Bandwidth – proper tools for achieving the tasks and
Network Design – choosing equipment and topologies.
Available Space (45) | Session 3 Tuesday, June 03, 2008 10:30 a.m. to 11:15 a.m. | CommSoft - Effective Marketing Tactics for the Multi-Service World Learn how to effectively mine your customer base to increase their service mix. We’ll share some reliable marketing techniques including defining your brand, perfecting your message, effectively promoting your services and how to up sell them in this complex and competitive telecom world. Available Space (45) Occam - Degree of Specialization Small telcos play a critical role in the success of their communities. The advanced
Broadband Services they offer are often significantly more advanced than those in urban areas. Small businesses and farmers, for example require advanced services to market their products. Bill Bittencourt will discuss the nuts and bolts of next generation of services
telcos should offer and how they should evaluate the importance of each to their
communities.
Available Space (45) BTI Systems Inc. - Evolving the IOC Optical Network with Next Generation The continuous migration from a TDM/SONET based network towards next generation
multi-service networking keeps putting pressure on both the optical fiber infrastructure
and the operational complexity of converged networks. For IOCs with limited fiber assets
and operational staff it is imperative to minimize costly new fiber builds, avoid expensive
dark fiber leasing and enable a simple to deploy and manage, shared fiber infrastructure.
In this presentation the authors illustrate how today’s CWDM technology offers; simple
SONET like network planning, unprecedent pay-as-you-growth scalability (up to 16
wavelengths @ 10Gbps each), hitless in-service upgrades and per wavelength service
isolation. In addition, CWDM can be deployed at a lower initial and future cost than both
traditional full ring 10Gbps SONET upgrades and DWDM. Available Space (45) Caris Network Solutions - “Ethernet Deployment and Certification Testing" This workshop will address RFC 2544 SLA testing and in-depth IP analysis of Carrier Ethernet services. Available Space (45) |
